It is with great pride that the Fermata Foundation has partnered with Bill McGhee and his sons, the grandson and great-grandsons of the original McGhee and McGhee contractors (Circa 1929), to restore Fermata Hall. Doing business as Sitec, LLC, the McGhee and McGhee legacy will continue as they work to preserve and restore this historically and architecturally significant building.
A FUTURE HALL FOR ALL
Upon the centennial of the founding of the Fermata School for Girls, the Fermata Foundation was formed to address the uncelebrated and underutilized Fermata Gymnasium. With a multi-year plan to restore and renovate, the Fermata Foundation seeks to preserve the building’s structure and significance – so that the community as a whole can honor the school’s past – and rejoice in its future. Historically and architecturally symbolic, the Fermata School Gymnasium has a story to tell, and returned to its glory, will set the stage for many stories to come as Aiken’s new homeroom for weddings, receptions, corporate meetings, nonprofit functions, community theater, and recitals.
